The Cummins ISX15 and the X15 that replaced it are among the most common engines in class 8 trucks. You'll find them in Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner, International, Volvo and Mack chassis. We work on them every week at customer yards in Ohio, through remote sessions, and on our bench through mail-in service.
Common ISX15 and X15 problems we fix
- EGR system. EGR valve and cooler failures, EGR differential pressure sensor faults and the low-power complaints that come with them.
- Turbocharger. VGT actuator faults and calibration, and boost pressure problems.
- Aftertreatment. DPF regen problems, DEF doser and DEF quality faults, and NOx sensor failures. See aftertreatment repair.
- Fuel system. Low rail pressure, injector problems and fuel contamination.
- Electrical. Harness damage, sensor supply faults and J1939 communication problems.
- Cooling. Coolant loss and overheating.
Programming and parameters
With Cummins INSITE we can read and change customer parameters: road speed limit, cruise control, idle shutdown, PTO setup, and tire size and axle ratio. We can also apply calibration updates and set up replacement ECMs for the engine they're going on. We work with the CM870, CM871, CM2250 and CM2350 controllers.
Mail-in and remote
If your truck is outside our mobile area, we can still help. Send the ECM for bench diagnostics, programming or recovery through our mail-in service, or set up a remote session if you have a laptop and a J1939 adapter at the truck.
We don't remove or disable emissions equipment. We repair it and keep the truck compliant. Call (513) 377-0831 with the engine serial number and the fault codes, and we'll tell you what we think it is and how to fix it.
Before you call
It helps to have the truck's VIN, the engine serial number from the engine data plate, the active and inactive fault codes, and a description of what the truck is doing, such as low power, a derate, smoke or a no-start. With that, we can usually point you in the right direction on the first call.
