Paccar MX-13 Service

Diagnostics, repair and programming for the Paccar MX-13 and MX-11 in Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks.

Paccar's MX-13 has been available in Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks since 2010, and the smaller MX-11 followed. They're now common engines in both brands. Highlyfe Diesel Services works on both, on site in our Ohio service area and through remote and mail-in service everywhere else.

Common MX-13 problems we fix

  • EGR. EGR cooler leaks and EGR valve faults, and the coolant loss and low-power complaints that go with them.
  • Aftertreatment. NOx sensor failures, DEF pump and doser faults, DEF quality codes, and DPF regen problems. See aftertreatment repair.
  • Turbocharger. VGT actuator and boost faults.
  • Fuel system. Rail pressure faults and injector problems.
  • Electrical. Sensor wiring, connectors and network communication faults.
  • Cooling. Coolant leaks and overheating.

Programming with Davie4

Paccar engines are serviced with Paccar's Davie4 software. We use it to read faults and freeze-frame data, run service tests, change customer parameters such as road speed, cruise and idle shutdown, and handle ECM programming and replacement setup.

Kenworth and Peterbilt chassis

Because Paccar engines come in Paccar trucks, a lot of MX-13 problems involve the chassis side too: body controllers, cab wiring and gauges. We handle both, so you aren't stuck between an engine shop and a chassis shop.

Outside our mobile area? Use mail-in ECM service or remote support. Otherwise, call (513) 377-0831 or send a mobile service request. We repair emissions systems and keep them in place.

Before you call

Have the VIN, the engine serial number, the fault codes and a description of the symptoms ready. If the truck has a derate, note the speed it's limited to and whether a warning lamp is flashing. With that information, we can often tell you what's likely wrong before we arrive, and bring the right parts.

We see a lot of MX-13s with coolant loss traced back to the EGR cooler. If you're topping off coolant with no visible leak, tell us. A cooling system pressure test usually confirms it.
